The Graduate Certificate in Software Engineering from St Mary's University is an online software engineering degree for those interested in working with complex software systems. This program is designed to provide the knowledge and skills to develop and manage large-scale software systems and is not intended to provide a large repertoire of programming skills that emphasize particular language syntax. Rather this online software engineering degree focuses on quality, reliability, and maintainability of large-scale software systems. The curriculum teaches students to apply sound engineering theory, principles, tools, and processes and teaches them the principles of computer science and mathematics, preparing them to evaluate, design, develop, test, and maintain software systems.
While this is a stand-alone certificate, students are encouraged to earn their Master of Science in Software Engineering by completing six additional courses and a capstone project or five additional courses and a thesis.
