Program Details

Intensive Teaching Institute (ITI) in Bilingual Education is funded by New York State Education Department (NYSED) in partnership with St. John’s University, Graduate Programs in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

In this program, students will take classes in teaching strategies for ESL, psychology and sociology of language, as well as methods and practices for teaching exceptional learners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Statement of goals
  • Official Transcripts from ALL colleges and universities attended
  • Satisfactory Grade Point Average (3.0 – 3.5 depending on program)

Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)

The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) now administers both NCATE and TEAC accreditation. Current accreditation status under NCATE and TEAC for education programs will continue through the accreditation term, during which they will be CAEP Eligible.
