Spoon River College is a two-year, public community college in West Central Illinois dedicated to providing students a quality education. The citizens of Canton Union School District No. 66, aware of a nationwide movement to extend the opportunities of higher education to a greater number of youth and adults, voted to establish a community junior college in October of 1959. Spoon River College serves students in Fulton, McDonough, Mason, Schuyler and Knox counties. Students can participate in programs leading to the first two years of college and pre-professional courses, career and technical education, and business and industry training.

SRC offers many courses online, which can lead to degrees and certificates.
