Program Details

The online Master of Education in Special Education program is designed for educators who want to further their knowledge and skills with teaching students with mild and moderate disabilities.  The curriculum prepares educators to teach students with special needs from birth to adulthood, helping them assess, evaluate, plan, and manage the curriculum and environment that is best suited to helping these students achieve all they possibly can.  Courses include:

  • Introduction to Mild & Moderate Disabilities
  • Assessment of Exceptional Individuals
  • Planning and Managing the Teaching Environment
  • Legal and Ethical Practices in Special Education
  • Instructional Content and Practices for Students with M/M Disabilities


  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association
  • A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale OR
  • A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5-2.99 on a 4.0 scale with a satisfactory minimum score with respect to the following equation of GPA and GRE scores: GPA x 100 + GRE = 530
  • Official transcripts of all credit earned
  • Two recommendation forms
