Master of Education in Education / Reading Specialist

Program Details

The online Master of Education in Education with a concentration in Reading Specialist program is designed for educators who want to further their knowledge and skills in education, especially in the field of reading.  The curriculum is designed to prepare educators to analyze students of all ages, assess reading difficulties, and help them improve their reading skills while helping other educators develop programs that allow students to get the most out of the reading instruction.  Courses include:

  • Analysis of Reading Systems
  • Foundations of Reading
  • Org. and Supervision of Reading Instruction
  • Diagnosis/Remediation of Reading I
  • Diagnosis/Remediation of Reading II

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association
  • A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale OR
  • A cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5-2.99 on a 4.0 scale with a satisfactory minimum score with respect to the following equation of GPA and GRE scores: GPA x 100 + GRE = 530
  • Official transcripts of all credit earned
  • Two recommendation forms
