Program Details

Southwestern College - Kansas offers an online Master of Arts in Teaching. The program does not lead to licensure, however students will gain a foundational education on principles of teaching and research. Coursework includes literacy, teaching methods, classroom management, and more.


  • Current resume
  • Two professional letters of recommendation (at least one from a current or former employer)
  • One-page personal essay
  • Unofficial transcript from a bachelor's degree-granting institution (official transcripts must be received within 8 weeks following the start of class)
  • Baccalaureate (or higher) degree in a subject area where Kansas has secondary (grades 6-12) licensure available
  • Passing Praxis II test scores in the content area for which licensure is being sought
