Associate of Science in Addictions Counseling

Program Details

Southwestern Assemblies of God University offers the Associate of Science in Addictions Counseling, a program that introduces the student to the treatment of addictions while preparing them to work in a variety of therapeutic settings. 

Upon completion of this program, students will:

  • Be able to identify and describe the pharmacology of addiction and its effect on all aspects of the individual
  • Demonstrate assessment and treatment skills as related to addictive behavior and recovery
  • Demonstrate proficiency in methods, techniques, and models of prevention
  • Demonstrate ethical competencies required for licensure as a chemical dependency counselor

Requirements

Official high school transcript showing date of graduation from an accredited institution or equivalent. Minimum 2.0 GPA. Official transcripts from each college attended (if applicable).
