Program Details
Southern Connecticut State University offers an online social work degree, the Doctor of Social Work (DSW). This doctorate degree program prepares master’s-level social workers for leadership in agency or academic settings. This is a professional doctorate program that also strives to be flexible enough for students to be able to attend while working. It is offered in a three-year, part-time format consisting of two courses per semester that are delivered online. The curriculum also displays flexibility by allowing students with a particular interest that is not included in the program plan to substitute one graduate level course for one of the required courses with advisor approval.
All students will complete a self-designed externship that expands students’ experience in one of these areas of focus:
- Advanced clinical practice
- University teaching
- Leadership and management
