Program Overview

Available through Southeastern Technical College, the Supervisor/Manager Specialist Technical Certificate of Credit program is intended to give students additional, non-degree resulting preparation in management and leadership. This program is not meant to directly prepare students for employment, but to rather supplement existing experience or academic training in order to increase the chances of career advancement or acquisition.

This program is available entirely online, providing ideal flexibility to working professionals that may otherwise be unable to balance work with the time and location constrictions of an on-campus education.

It is the goal of this program to help graduates become effective supervisors or managers, primarily in business, commercial, or manufacturing facilities. Students will take courses that prepare them for job acquisition, retention, and advancement in their current or intended place of work. Earning this certificate may give graduates a competitive edge in the job market by strengthening existing credentials. The credits earned in this program may be applied towards a business management program at STC or another university.

In order to complete the program, students must earn a total of 12 credit hours, an amount that can typically be completed in one to two semesters, depending on the workload. This total comes from three required courses and an elective. For the elective, students are able to choose either Employment Law, which is intended to guide students into a working knowledge of laws of employment and the FLSA, and Labor Management Relations, which focuses more on the relationships between different levels of personnel in an organization.
