Program Overview

The Marketing Specialist Technical Certificate of Credit offered by Southeastern Technical College is a non-degree program designed to prepare students for effectively executing a company's marketing plans. As completion of this program does not result in a degree or diploma, pursuing it can benefit students that wish to complete a few courses in the field of marketing before committing to a degree or diploma program. The program may also benefit individuals that have already earned a degree in another field, such as management or business, who seek to strengthen their chances of advancement or pursuing a new position by adding training in marketing.

This program is offered both online and on-campus through the Vidalia campus. To successfully complete the program, students must earn a minimum of 12 hours of credit, a total that can be satisfied in a one or two month period, depending on the desired workload. Nine of the 12 credits come from prescribed courses in marketing, while the remaining three come from an open marketing elective chosen by the student.

The first course, Principles of Marketing, introduces students to the current trends and forces affecting the field of marketing. Students should learn effective professional communication techniques as well as marketing techniques and the role of marketing in an organization. The second course, Professional Selling, is focused on the importance of product and sales knowledge, the ethics of selling, and customer relations. The final required class, Integrated Marketing Communications, is one that instructs students in the principles and practices of promotion and communication in a marketing department.
