Marketing Management Diploma - Retail Management Specialization
Southeastern Technical College
The Marketing Management Diploma with a Retail Management specialization program offered by Southeastern Technical College is designed to prepare students for work in retail. This program can aid those seeking entry-level work in management in a retail setting as well as professionals already in the field that want gainful advancement. As completing this program does not result in a degree, the knowledge gained throughout can add to the qualifications instilled through a degree program.
The goal of the Marketing Management program is to help students understand how to create profitable customer relationships by delivering superior value, services, and satisfaction in a competitive marketplace. The marketing landscape has changed drastically in recent years with the advent and advancement of the internet, globalization, diversity, social and ethical responsibilities, and changing customer values. With social media, opinions spread quickly, resulting in a need for effective and ethical marketing techniques. In this program students must learn to apply marketing concepts to realistic work situations.
In order to complete the diploma program, students must earn at least 58 credits, a total that can be completed in four semesters if candidates enroll at a full-time rate. Ten hours come from general education courses, 36 from work in the occupational core, and 12 in the chosen specialization of retail. Most courses are prescribed, but students have the option of completing an internship or practicum in marketing in order to satisfy a marketing-specific elective. The internship and practicum experiences are to aid students in problem solving, interpersonal skills, and professional development.
