Marketing Management Degree
Offered by Southeastern Technical College, the Associate Degree in Marketing Management is intended to give preparation to students seeking entry-level management and leadership positions in their current place of employment, as well as in a variety of other business settings. This degree is also appropriate for students planning to transfer to a four-year program at the baccalaureate level, generally in management, finance, or marketing. By first pursuing an associate's, students may cut down the cost that is typically associated with completing a traditional four-year program from start to finish.
This program is able to be delivered entirely online, allowing some flexibility in scheduling to working professionals that may struggle to balance the constrictions of a traditional on-campus experience. It is the goal of this program to help students develop the qualities that aid them in job acquisition, retention, and advancement. This program combines marketing and management coursework with classes in a range of other disciplines in order to provide students with a rounded educational platform for future success.
To complete this program, those enrolled are to earn a minimum of 65 hours of credit, a total that typically takes five semesters to complete, though students are able to take more or less time, based on scheduling or ability. Of this total, 17 hours come from work in the general education core, while the remaining 48 are from occupational courses in management and marketing. Most of the occupational credits come from prescribed courses, but six come from two 3-credit marketing electives chosen from a restricted list. One option is a Marketing Internship/Practicum, in which candidates, upon earning department approval, are able to gain practical and hands-on experience in marketing.
