Program Overview

Offered by Southeastern Technical College, the Human Resource Management Specialist Technical Certificate of Credit program is designed to instruct students in the responsibilities associated with HR departments in most companies. This program is able to be completed entirely online, allowing flexibility in scheduling and the completion of assignments to working professionals.

The program may benefit students that already have a degree in another field, related or not, that seek specialized training in HR management in order to make a career change or advance to a higher position in their current organization.

According to STC, human resource specialists are professionals that are responsible for the coordination of recruiting, hiring, and training of new employees. HR specialist may also handle the review of current employees and help settle interpersonal issues that may arise in their place of work. These professionals are often individuals with strong communication skills that have an ability to think critically and evaluate complex relationships with many contributing factors.

In order to complete the program, enrolled students have to earn a minimum of 18 hours of credit, which can usually be done in two semesters. All credits come from occupational courses directly relevant to the field of HR management, 15 of which come from specifically prescribed classes. Students have the option of selecting either Employment Law or Labor Management Relations as a course to finish out the degree requirements.

    School Overview

    The story of today’s Southeastern Technical College begins in Emanuel County in 1963. That year, Swainsboro Area Vocational Technical School opened, made real through the efforts and support of the local legislators and citizens in the Emanuel County area. Swainsboro Area Vocational Technical School converted to state governance in 1987 and was renamed Swainsboro Technical Institute. The school became Southeastern Technical College in 1990.

    STC offers associate's degree programs, occupational certificates, and diplomas, many of which can be earned completely online.
