Early Childhood Program Administration
Offered by Southeastern Technical College, the Early Childhood Program Administration Certificate program is designed to prepare students for careers as managers in a childcare learning center or group day care center setting. The program can be appropriate for students that wish to complete a few credits in the subject before committing to a degree or diploma program. Completion of the certificate can also supplement the qualifications gained through a program already completed by the student.
This program is able to be taken entirely online, which allows flexibility in scheduling for working students. This is a short program, consisting of nine credits, that is typically completed in one semester. The focus of the curriculum is on child growth and development, as well as the management and administration issues present in managing a child care center.
The nine credits of this program come from three required courses. The first, Child Growth and Development, is an introductory course that exposes students to the aspects of development of young children from the prenatal stage all the way through age 12. The following course, Program Administration and Facility Management, is concerned with the planning, implementation, and maintenance of an effective early childhood program, including addressing the goals of a program, space management, financial planning, and public and community relations. In Personnel Management, the final course, students are instructed in aspects of staffing, payroll, and conflict resolution.
