Business Management Degree
Southeastern Technical College
The Business Management program at Southeastern Technical College is an Associate's Degree designed to help students gain the skills and knowledge necessary to pursue entry-level management and supervisory positions in a range of businesses or industries. This program is also appropriate for individuals planning on transferring to a four-year program in business or management at another accredited college or university.
Students that enroll in this program are able to choose one of two specialization options, either General Management or Human Resource Management. The first option prepares students to manage in a range of settings, while the second option is more appropriate for students that seek an administrative of personnel supervisory role. Management is a competitive field, so additional education can serve to bolster an individual's chance of advancement or career acquisition.
It is the goal of this program to produce graduates with clear communication skills, both in written and oral form, and the ability to critically think and research. Managers are individuals that supervise employees, delegate projects, and coordinate persons and teams in order to meet the overall goals of an organization.
In order to complete the program, students must earn a total of 65-66 hours of credit. Of the total, 20 hours go towards general program courses, 33-34 to occupational courses, and 12 to the student's chosen specialization. Outside of these requirements, those enrolled choose Mathematical Modeling or College Algebra, Introduction to Sociology or Public Speaking, and Financial Accounting I or Managerial Accounting and Finance. The program typically can be completed in five to six semesters, depending on the scheduling and ability of the student.
