Program Overview

The Associate of Applied Science in Business Management program at Southeastern Illinois College is designed to prepare students for entry-level work in business and management settings. Though this program can benefit those planning to transfer to a four-year program in business or management, it is primarily intended for those seeking career placement or advancement.

Graduates of the program should be qualified to pursue careers in manufacturing firms, banks, educational institutions, and publishing companies, to name just a few possibilities. Possible job titles include financial bookkeepers, statistical clerks, property managers, and business managers.

This program is able to be taken online, providing ideal flexibility to working professionals that may be otherwise unable to balance the demands of both work and a traditional on-campus education. Some courses may require on-site components that are usually completed in the college's business lab. Students that enroll at a full-time status can usually complete the program in two years, though they are able to take more time if desired. Students should note that technology is rapidly changing, so the curriculum may be updated as needed. As such, students that do not complete a business or computer course in a timely manner may be subject to program changes.

In order to complete the program, students must earn 67 hours of credit while maintaining at least a 2.0 overall GPA throughout. This credit total comes from a combination of required and elective courses. A one-credit Keyboarding course may be waived if a student has prior typing skills, but the program's credit total will remain the same.
