Program Details

The Master of Social Work with a concentration in Mental Health & Addictions is an online MSW from Simmons College.  Students who are interested in careers working with mental health and addictions can complete a sequence of courses that provide advanced skills in this area of social work.  They gain the knowledge and skills needed to work with clients with severe and concurrent mental health conditions and addictions, managing symptoms and achieving wellness and recovery.

Students earning this online master’s in social work also study models of therapeutic practice, theories of human development, relational and group process, cultural learning, and social policy.  Courses in this program cover a large variety of theoretical frameworks and practice methods that you will be able to use in future practice, including:

  • psychodynamic theory
  • cognitive behavioral theory
