Program Details
The Master of Social Work from Simmons University is an online social work degree with an Advanced Standing option. The Advanced Standing program is available to those with a completed Bachelor of Social Work, allowing them to earn their online MSW with only 37 credits and in as few as 16 months.
Regardless of the track you choose to take to earn your degree in social work, you will still study models of therapeutic practice, theories of human development, relational and group process, cultural learning, and social policy. Courses cover numerous theoretical frameworks and practice methods that students will use in their own practices, including:
- ecological systems theory
- human development
- sociocultural theory
- psychodynamic theory
- cognitive behavioral theory
The curriculum features hands-on field education opportunities that allow students to develop confidence and integrate what they are learning in the classroom into practice.
