Program Details
Santa Barbara City College offers the online AS in Cancer Information Management. This program teaches participants how to maintain databases that contain cancer information. All information that is collected is used to enhance cancer prevention techniques and treatment. Cancer information management personnel also may follow up with registered patients in order to track their progress.
Students must have a strong working knowledge of medical terminology, the human form and function, pathophysiology, and health care quality management. Participants should gain skills in health information management in order to assist them in their duties of managing cancer information. Computer applications and coding systems are principles that are essential for enrolled students to operate while employed. The program curriculum provides students with expert knowledge and skills that will allow them to be successful in their careers as cancer registrars.
