Salt Lake Community College is offering an Associate of Science degree in Business which is designed as a transfer degree to other four-year business schools within the Utah System of Higher Education. Students will gain a basic knowledge of business processes, functions, and an understanding of business organizations in the current global economy. Classes include various business concepts such as economics, management, accounting, business law, and marketing.
Students will build skills by studying computer applications, communication, team building, and decision making. These skills will prepare any student for a lifetime of sound business development and education. Besides being prepared to transfer, students can gain entry-level employment opportunities in any number of sectors, including government agencies, financial institutions, and large-to-small business or industry.
This program requires a minimum of 63 credit hours. A full-time student can typically complete an AS degree within two years. Besides the major course work in business, students are required to have a certain amount of semester hour credits in general education, which includes work in communications, humanities/fine arts, natural sciences, social and behavioral sciences, and mathematics. Certain classes may require prerequisite courses in which case a student may need to take classes prior to starting the degree, though if a student demonstrates proficiency in an area, he/she may be exempt from that prerequisite. Students should be aware of the requirements of their receiving school so that they may choose classes accordingly. Students may discuss these requirements with an academic advisor.

Salt Lake Community College was established in 1948 and continues today as a 2-year, public community college located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Salt Lake Community College is the largest institution of higher education in the State of Utah. The school began as the Salt Lake Area Vocational School, which evolved out of the War Production Training School that was established at West High School during World War II. Over the years, the school grew and became a community college under the accreditation from the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges.
Salt Lake Community College offers associate's degrees, certificates, and diplomas. SLCC works with other state institutions in providing a quality transfer program for those students who wish to continue to receive a bachelor’s degree. In addition to the traditional courses, SLCC offers online courses and degrees in a completely online format.
