Salem International University was founded in 1888 by the Seventh Day Baptist Church and continues today as a private institution of higher learning located in Salem, West Virginia. Throughout the years, the school maintained its curriculum with programs in liberal arts, teacher education and nursing. In 1989, SIU formed an alliance with Teikyo University in Tokyo, Japan to establish international prestige. The alliance ended in 2000 when Teikyo University was purchased by investors from Singapore and the school’s name changed to its present day title.
Salem awards associate’s, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees along with various certificates. All academic programs including distance learning are delivered in a monthly format which is ideal for those students who are on a time crunch and need to finish their degree at a quicker pace.
