Mathematics is the basis of the age we live in, and at the core of every aspect of business, technology, science, or policy is theoretical work and practical application of mathematics. Math forms the basis of solving problems and answering questions that humans face, as well as our way of understanding the nature of our universe as it related to natural sciences. Business uses it for planning, analysis, and development of strategies and recognition of patterns. Technology uses it through application of physics, chemistry, biology and other fields in a theoretical foundation to develop new equipment, machinery, and skills to improve the condition of mankind.
Saint Mary of the Woods College offers a Bachelor degree in Mathematics for inpiduals who are interested in learning to apply and develop their skill in mathematic to understanding the world around them, or function in a wide variety of careers. Students will learn how to solve a variety of problems and create new and innovative solutions using mathematics, identify and develop mathematical patterns, find out mathematically how and why things work, and develop their innate ability in a way that is marketable on the career path. Students with degrees in mathematics can find jobs as analysts, statisticians, or any number of jobs in the science, technology, engineering, or math fields.
As part of the program, students will be required to develop their skills in mathematics and information technology, including learning visual basic, calculus, discrete mathematics, mathematical modeling, linear algebra, statistics, abstract algebra, mathematical statistics, geometry, and applied statistics.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College is a Roman Catholic, 4-year, liberal arts women’s college located in Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana. The school was founded in 1840 and was associated with the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. In 1841, an academy for women was established by Saint Mother Theodore Guerin who was canonized in 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. SMWC is the oldest Catholic women’s college in the nation. The school was actually the first women’s college to offer journalism courses and degree work for secondary education.
At present, SMWC offers associate, bachelor, and graduate degrees in over 30 majors on-campus and online.
