Finance in Health Care Advanced Certificate
Rochester Institute of Technology offers a Finance in Health Care Advanced Certificate for individuals in healthcare and management interested in furthering their understanding of the financial activities and operations involved in health care organizations and operations. Through the program, students may learn how managers are responsible for managing the assets and resources of health care services in order to keep costs down and to apply the available human and material resources when scarcity is involved. Students will study processes in financial management and personnel management that guide the operation of healthcare organizations. Individuals will receive training in ethical behaviors and activity in health care, and the management of risk in health care as it applies to cost management.
Students will have the potential to increase their understanding of health system management and finance as it applies to health system operations. The curriculum consists of 15 credit hours of courses which include management of risk in health care, lean six sigma in health care, and finance for health care professionals.
Students who successfully complete this program will needed to have proven: the business structures relating to the health care and health services industries, the fundamental aspects of biology and physiology in health care needed for administrative understanding of activities and operations, understanding of core business practices utilized by typical businesses and the healthcare industry, and the economic limitations which result in scarcity of human and material resources needed for health services.
