Elements of Health Care Leadership Adv. Cert.
Rochester Institute of Technology offers an Advanced Certificate in Leadership in Health Care for students interested in developing their management and leadership skills in organizations that provide healthcare services. Students will develop fundamental skills in leadership through training and instruction in the responsibilities of leaders and administrators in healthcare. The credits earned during the certificate program can be applied towards a Master of Science degree in Health Care Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology.
Students may enhance their understanding of the responsibilities of leaders in health care services through the curriculum. The curriculum consists of 15 credit hours of classes which include group dynamics and facilitation skills, marketing within health care, and leadership tools and techniques.
Students who complete this certificate program will have the potential to exhibit effective communication skills at the individual and group levels, the ability to identify the components of the healthcare delivery system and external environmental factors affecting the management of healthcare organizations, and the ability to analyze laws, regulations, court decisions, and health policy that impact healthcare organizations and health services delivery.
In addition, graduates are expected to be able to analyze the responsibility and operations of a healthcare organization to identify and resolve problems and improve performance, and to demonstrate an understanding of the roles, perspectives, and expectations of clinical practitioners, how they differ from nonclinical staff, and the challenges these differences present for management.
