Rochester College is a four-year, liberal arts institution of higher learning located in Rochester, Michigan, which is a northern exurb of Detroit. The school was founded in 1959 as North Central Christian College by members of the Church of Christ. The establishment of this school was to provide a Christian college in the North Central region of the United States. Although the school maintained its Christian roots, the board decided to add a liberal arts curriculum. After another name change a few years prior, the board adopted the name Rochester College to more accurately portray the school’s liberal arts influence in a Christian environment.
