    School Overview

Riverland Community College is an institution located in Austin, Minnesota, and is part of the larger Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System. RCC was founded in 1940 as Austin Junior College. The school later changed its name to Austin Area Vocational-Technical School to match the technology-oriented academics offered at the institution. The title Riverland Community College was established in 1996 because of its merge with different schools in the region. Today the public, two-year college maintains campuses in Albert Lea and Owatonna, in addition to the Austin site, and promotes its mission as “a regional comprehensive community college inspiring learning for living through a personalized educational environment.”

Riverland Community College offers career technical training and associate’s degrees. More than 350 Riverland courses are offered online or through hybrid formatting, and several programs are offered completely online.
