The Fine Arts program requires that students possess a specific degree built on their Fine Arts field. In order to qualify for one of the K-12 Fine Arts Education areas, students must pass the required AEPA content exam for Art or Music, or verify 24 credits of prior coursework in Dance or Dramatic Arts.
Students in the Music Education program are preparing to teach grades K-12. This program requires 34 credits including in-person field experiences in many of the courses as well as a nine-week student teaching experience. Students must verify content proficiency through the passing score of a state-approved content exam (AEPA). The purpose of the department is to provide an excellent musical education. Within this framework, students are required to grapple with new intellectual, musical, aesthetic, social, ethical and technological challenges.
Post-Baccalaureate courses are designed for individuals who have a bachelor's degree or higher (in any area) from an accredited university. Students must also must pass the required AEPA content exam for Art or Music, or verify 24 credits of prior coursework in Dance or Dramatic Arts.
