Academic Certificate (AC) in K-12 Online Teaching
The Academic Certificate (AC) in K-12 Online Teaching is designed to provide K-12 teachers with a foundation for teaching online classes. Students will review online discipline issues, parental involvement and communication, and legal issues. Courses are also designed to prepare students to design and facilitate the online classroom experience. Courses may lead to Arizona Department of Education endorsement.
The goal of this program is to prepare current K-12 teachers to teach in an online environment and to become leaders in the development, implementation and evaluation of online programs. This includes helping students understand how various topics within subject areas are effectively represented using technology and pedagogical strategies required to teach these concepts online.
This goal is accomplished by offering course work that addresses all three domains along with field experience opportunities. Through these experiences, students would be prepared to teach in online and blended educational environments.
