Richland currently offers a Management Level 1 Certificate which caters to students currently employed in a managerial position or related field. The program offers courses on practical management skills in areas of leadership, goal setting, problem solving, human resources, and team building. Students learn to develop fundamental skills, knowledge, attitudes, and experiences that can help them function as leaders and decision-makers. Students will take in-class courses as well as experience on-the-job training with their current employers.
This degree requires 30 credit hours and can be completed within 4 semesters for part-time students. Classes include topics on supervision, composition, organizational behavior, human resources, communications, and problem solving and decision making. These courses are applicable to the Management Associate Degree option. Courses also include Management Cooperative Education, which is a unique experience and provides a great benefit to students. Courses in Management Cooperative teach students to apply management concepts to their current jobs and thus bridge the gap between theory and practice in their careers as professional managers. These classes focus on general Administration and Management and are required for all four semesters.
Students will advance their management capability which can lead to promotions and benefits in the working arena, as well as focus on important managerial techniques. The student’s current job can be made to run more smoothly, giving the individual a valuable edge, and because these skills are necessary not just for managers but for any successful employee. Students can enhance their skill set and marketability on the job as well as demonstrate their ability to accept new challenges.
