Program Overview

Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) offers Management Information Systems as an option of the Associate of Science degree program in Business Administration. This program is essentially the basic Business Administration degree with additional courses in computer language and systems analysis. Although this degree is offered online, a few of the required courses may be only offered onsite at the college. However, RVCC assures that at least 85 percent of the courses are offered online. The curriculum includes courses in computer concepts and programming, financial accounting, system analysis and design, and principles of marketing.

During the program, students learn to construct systems requirements that address user business needs, produce well-structured applications programs, and examine financial statements as a basis for economic decision-making. Graduates of the program are able to identify the basic principles of marketing and produce business documents using current computer applications. Graduates are also able to identify business concepts as they relate to current business activities and examine accounting information as a basis for economic decision-making. The program prepares students to transfer to a four-year institution to study computer information systems. For your convenience, RVCC has transfer agreements with close to 50 colleges and universities.
