Associate of Arts and Sciences Transfer Degree Program, Business Administration Specialization
Rappahannock Community College
Rappahannock Community College Associate of Arts and Sciences Transfer Degree Specialization in Business Administration is designed for students planning on later attending a four-year institution. It is a program and a degree that prepares them by giving them the educational groundwork for entrance into four-year institutions. By entering a four-year institution with an Associate Degree, students have completed the freshman and sophomore years at the school.
Through the Arts and Sciences Transfer Degree specialization in Business Administration, students are on the path they need to seek a higher degree in business administration by focusing their elective requirements on the business track. By preparing for a four-year degree, students should investigate the educational and transfer requirements at the schools they wish to apply to, in order to make sure that transfer credits are accepted and students take the classes required for entrance into the program.
The program is a general studies program that focuses its elective coursework on business, designed for maximum exposure to a wide range of topics, including history, mathematics, natural science, social studies, leadership skills, college composition, the humanities, computer application, public speaking, and health. By following the core curriculum, students will meet their graduation requirements for general education.
With the Business Administration specialization, students will take additional classes in accounting and microeconomics which they can use to transfer to a business program at another school. Students should understand that most professions are glad to see an Associate Degree in their applicants; however, the Associate Degree shows proficiency in general education, not advanced education in the topic that the student is seeking. Any student seeking a professional career in any subject should strongly consider a four year education from a respected institution.
