Program Details

The online Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Occupational Therapy creates effective, collaborative, and accessible leaders in occupational therapy.  The foundational coursework emphasizes scholarly writing and prepares students to submit evidence-based manuscripts for publication while also providing them with the opportunity to differentiate themselves as agents of change within the field.  Students have the opportunity to concentrate their studies in specialized areas of practice and can choose from two specialized tracks:  school-based practice or teaching and learning in occupational therapy.

Requirements

  • Official transcripts, indicating the year of graduation from an Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or a World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) accredited entry-level professional program
  • Proof of initial certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) or AOTCB initial certification (prior to NBCOT)
  • Verification of employment as an occupational therapist: minimum of 6,000 hours of OT practice (equals three years FTE) with at least 4,000 hours (equals two FTE years or four to six part time years) within the last six years
  • Proof of licensure to practice (if applicable in the state of current practice)
  • Two professional references
  • Current membership to the American Occupational Therapy Association
  • A personal essay
  • Background check
