The online Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice offers a concentration in Correctional Counseling for students who are interested in helping inmates and former prisoners. This program builds on the Criminal Justice foundation which offers a personal, hands-on approach to learning about the inner workings of the criminal justice system. In addition, the curriculum in criminal justice provides the technical abilities and educational background students need to become professionals in a variety of criminal justice settings. For those who choose to pursue the Correctional Counseling concentration option, courses prepare students to work with criminal offenders during and after their time in prison. You will gain the knowledge and skills needed to create treatment plans to help former prisoners adjust to life after prison, interview inmates and their families, conduct psychological evaluations, and design educational or job training programs for inmates.
