Portland State University offers a Children’s and Young Adult Literature Graduate Certificate that is well suited for individuals who wish to enhance their knowledge on literature for young adults and children. Students enrolled in this certificate program will gain in-depth knowledge on children’s authors, illustrators, genres, evaluation of quality literature, literature for school curricula, and much more. The Children’s and Young Adult Literature Graduate Certificate Program consists of 16 total credit hours. Courses within the curriculum include Young Adult Literature, Multicultural Literature, Global Literature, Contemporary Children’s and Young Adult Literature, and a Final Practicum/Project. Elective courses must also be completed in order to graduate. These courses are designed for students to acquire unique knowledge that will assist them while working with children and young adults in the educational system.
