Pittsburgh Technical College

Program Details

The online Certificate in Medical Coding program teaches the general rules of coding and then allows students to specialize in coding for hospitals or coding for physicians.  Students learn how to transform written descriptions of diseases, injuries, procedures, and services into alphanumeric designations.  The curriculum provides chart abstracting so students can read medical records, interpret them, and assign correct codes while also teaching other skills and experiences students need for careers in the healthcare field.
