Piedmont Virginia Community College, a public, two-year institution, was founded in 1972 when a steering committee petitioned the State Board for Community Colleges to establish a Community College in Charlottesville. Piedmont Virginia Community College operates with the mission to provide accessible, affordable, high-quality educational programs that promote student success and community vitality. The main campus is located in Charlottesville, Virginia, and encompasses 114 acres.
