Phoenix College was founded in 1920 as Phoenix Junior College and was originally part of the Phoenix Union High School and Junior College District. The school became part of the Maricopa County Community College District in 1960. Phoenix College operates with the mission "to deliver teaching and learning experiences that inspire the lifelong pursuit of educational, professional, and personal goals for its diverse urban community."
