Program Details

Through Penn Foster Career School, students have the opportunity to earn a diploma in Landscaping Technology. Students in the program study about garden ecology, creating landscape designs, and specialty landscaping. Starting with an introduction to landscaping, students cover current design trends, sustainable landscapes, and potential careers within the landscaping field.

Students discuss topics of pest management, plant and soil science, and plant injuries. The course Landscape Plants allows students to identify shrubs and trees using their bark, buds, and twigs. Students should learn the practical aspects of the design process, including meeting with clients, creating design plans, and unveiling the completed design. Students discuss design theory and landscape graphics. In Landscape Construction, Installation, and Maintenance, students learn hardscape construction from a do-it-yourself perspective. The final course students take in Landscaping Technology focuses on the essential aspects of constructing a successful business. Students create a business plan, consisting of marketing, customer relations, and landscape mathematics.

Students completing the Landscape Technology Diploma program from Penn Foster have the chance to gain beneficial skills for opportunities in the landscaping business.
