Undergraduate Certificate in Foundation Skills for Technology
Through Penn Foster College, students are able to earn a certificate without having to leave their home. The Undergraduate Certificate in Foundation Skills for Technology program allows students to earn 15 credits through online completion.
Students take a total of six courses to fulfill the certificate requirement. Starting by learning the development of engineering and engineering technology, students then are taught the skills needed to read technical drawings. Students learn print reading, dimensioning, interpretation of symbols, and the role of computer-aided drawing in modern technology. By learning basic computer skills, students are able to successfully use search engines, online resources, and applications in word processing. In Foundation Skills in Writing, students review basic grammar and practice writing articles, proposals, memos and reports. Basic math functions are necessary for employment in technology. Students are taught an introduction to algebra, the metric system, applied geometry and some trigonometry.
