Program Details

Through Penn Foster’s online programs, students are given the opportunity to earn a certificate in Human Resource Management Essentials. The Human Resource Management Essentials Certificate program consists of eight courses. By completing the Certificate, individuals have the opportunity to earn 22 credits that can be applied to the Associate Degree in Human Resources Management, if students are planning to continue their education.

The course materials are sent to the student to be completed. It is required that students planning to participate in this program obtain a High School Diploma or GED.

The Human Resource Management Essentials program begins with Principles of Management. Through this course, students study the various aspects of the business environment including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. The students also take a course in Human Resource Management, illustrating the interaction of personnel and the objectives of an organization. In Compensation Management, students learn the components of compensations packages, and the impact of internal and external equity. Students should learn objectives for benefit plans, as well as government programs for workers’ compensation. Students study design and administration of group health insurance program and integration of government and employer-sponsored retirement benefits.

Penn Foster’s Human Resource Management Essentials program trains students how to hire, retain, and manage employees. Upon completion, the students should develop a better understanding of the business environment, better equipping them for a career in human resource management.
