The PC Maintenance and Repair program introduces students to the ever-changing world of computer technology, as well as some of the basics of the language of technology. Students receive training in the repair of hardware and software, an addition to learning the importance of safety and essential characteristics of a PC maintenance technician.
In the PC Hardware course, students learn more advanced techniques such as using external I/O devices, troubleshooting, and performing virus protection and data recovery. In the PC Operating Systems course, students receive an overview of Windows and Mac operating systems and the use of software for data protection. The final course includes Network Protocols and Internetworking. Students are taught how computers form networks and what current networking strategies are available.
This program requires a minimum of 8th grade education.
