Students can complete a Certificate in Automotive Transmission Essentials through Penn Foster Career School. Students in the program complete courses in manual transmissions and automatic transmissions.
Students receive an introduction to manual transmissions, four-wheel-drive, drive shafts, clutches, and drivetrain electrical systems. The second course, Automatic Transmissions, includes an introduction to automatic transmissions, gears and hydraulic systems, and common and electronic automatic transmissions.
Prospective students may apply through Penn Foster Career School’s website. Students fill out an application online to enroll in Penn Foster’s Automatic Transmission Essentials Certificate program. As soon as the student’s enrollment forms are processed, study materials are sent to the student and they are ready to begin. At the end of each lesson is an exam, which students must receive a passing grade on to be given the course materials for the next lesson.
Prospective students interested in the Automotive Transmission Essentials Certificate should have work-related or an educational background in automotive repair.
