Penn Foster offers an Automotive HVAC Essentials Certificate covering heating and cooling systems, servicing, troubleshooting, and EPA regulations. It is important for students interested in the program to have educational or work experience in basic automotive repair. Students study types of refrigerants, air conditioning components, and how to service heating and cooling systems. Through practical, hands-on training, students study troubleshooting by practicing troubleshooting computer controlled systems.
Students may choose to engage in these courses by applying online through Penn Foster’s Career School website. The student fills out an online application for the specified program. A Student ID Number is sent by mail, or is given immediately through applying by phone. Students are then able to access course materials and begin the certificate program. Although the Automotive HVAC Essentials Certificate program is an independent study, faculty and advisors are available by phone to answers questions that may arise.
After each lesson, the student is expected to complete an online exam that can be accessed through the website. New course materials will be sent after the student passes the current lesson.
