Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science

Program Details

Oregon State University’s Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science program is ideal for working professionals who already possess a baccalaureate degree and wish to refresh or upgrade their current skills in order to be more competitive in the rapidly changing field of Geographic Information Science.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (in any field) from a college or university
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA for all undergraduate course work
  • At least two years of working in a field or organization related to geographic information science
  • Be prepared to complete graduate-level course work toward the certificate
  • Basic computer literacy 
  • Applicants should have in their record an introductory cartography course or have equivalent experience. A cartography course can also be pursued in tandem with the required certificate courses
  • Prior experience with relational databases or spatial analysis (not required) will be extremely helpful
