Program Overview

Ohio Christian University offers a Masters of Arts in Ministry degree for pastors or lay leaders who wish to further their education to better serve their communities. The program develops the student’s ministry and theology skills, whether the student opts for paid or lay ministry.

OCU offers two tracks in their MA in Ministry program, the Pastoral Care and Counseling Track and the Practical Theology Track. Each track specially focuses on different aspects of the ministry world. The Pastoral Care and counseling track is designed for students who wish to expand their competence as a pastoral counselor.  While the program does not give qualification as a licensed counselor, it better prepares one for the challenges as a pastoral counselor.

The Practical Theology track was specifically designed for experienced ministers in addition to those called to live their life in service within the ministry.  This track teaches students to apply theological principles to current ministry trials.

Students who wish to enroll in the Master of Arts in Ministry program at OCU must hold a Bachelor or Graduate degree with a minimum cumulative 2.75 GPA.  Students must also have at least two years pastoral or lay leader experience and have completed at least six semester credit hours in Bible and at least three semester credit hours in Theology (both either undergraduate or graduate).  Student will also need two Ministry References to enter the program.
