M.S. in Disaster and Emergency Preparedness
Nova Southeastern University, primarily located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offers a Master of Science in Disaster and Emergency Preparedness. The program is offered in conjunction with the Institute for Disaster and Emergency Preparedness. The Institute is a regional and national resource center focused on interdisciplinary training, information dissemination, and technical assistance related to all-hazards preparedness in a global society.
Students of the innovative degree in Disaster and Emergency Preparedness will be able to apply the learned theoretical knowledge and skills when working in fields of emergency management. The 36-credit-hour program is comprised of general courses in addition to several concentrations within the program to best fit with a student’s personal and professional career aspirations. Students can choose to earn a general Disaster and Emergency Preparedness degree, or choose from one of the concentration: Maritime Safety, Cyber Security, Law Enforcement/Criminal Justice or Public Health. The curriculum consists of required courses in addition to management and leadership, threats, hazards, and impacts courses.
Graduates of the M.S. in Disaster and Emergency Preparedness will be able to seek leadership positions in public and private sectors, as well as serve as the foundation for future educational pursuits.
