Program Overview

Nova Southeastern University, primarily located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offers a Master of Science in Information Technology in Education (MITE) degree program. The program is designed to expand on the already learned foundations of students with undergraduate majors in science, math, engineering, or business as well as introduce the advanced concepts of an educational impact within an IT program. Prospective students should have a working knowledge of structured programming in a modern high-level language as well as assembly language and computer organization.

The M.S. in Information Technology in Education is comprised of 36 credit hours and includes a core curriculum of Masters courses in addition to the specialized coursework to meet the needs of working professionals such as educators, trainers, administrators, technical support staff, and developers working in the public or private sector. The Education emphasis of the IT program blends educational theory and practice with the skills applicable to complex real-world problems. Teaching students the importance of how computers, software, and other forms of information technology can be used to improve learning outcomes is one of the primary objectives of the MITE program.

Students have the opportunity to choose an IT concentration within the Master’s program, to best fulfill personal and professional career aspirations. The concentrations delve into critical concepts such as:

Student must complete seven core courses (21 credit hours), four course concentration (12 credit hours) and one elective course (three credit hours) or five elective courses from those listed in the MITE program before a students can successfully graduate. Earning a valuable advanced education in Information Technology will allow graduate students the abilities to succeed within a broad range of careers. Graduates are able to use existing and emerging technologies to improve learning in formal and informal settings in addition to creating effective learning systems and environments that leverage the power of information and learning technologies.
