Nova Southeastern University, primarily located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offers a Doctor of Education with a concentration in Reading Education. The concentration in reading is designed to enhance a student teachers understanding and focus on the importance of reading instruction.
The 69-credit-hour curriculum will examine the multicultural and diverse classrooms while defining critical issues, perspectives, and solutions of teaching reading to school aged children and young adults. The doctoral program emphasizes the importance of incorporating behavior and skill strategies as a means of identifying reading deficiencies and the applying the proper teaching methods to each individual student.
Student teachers will learn the essential concepts of teaching the fundamentals of Reading to an influential group of students. The core coursework delves into the key concepts of:

Graduates of the program will demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current and historical teaching methodologies concerning reading instruction while making key decisions regarding teaching strategies and policy development.
