Nova Southeastern University, primarily located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offers a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education.

The program is designed to parallel the Florida state certification program for grades 6-12. The concentration of mathematics education provides student teachers the needed understanding of modern teaching strategies in the modern middle to high school classroom. The math education focus also consists of courses addressing the broad range of concepts comprising the secondary mathematics based on the Florida Sunshine State Mathematics Standards and the current State-wide assessment in mathematics at (grades 6–12). Mathematics certification is a generic certification, allowing student teachers to enter mathematic teaching positions within high school or middle schools.

Students can gain the best practices and proper application through the innovative virtual classroom and a solid education that parallels Florida’s standards for teaching English as a second language (ESOL) to students. Graduates can use the science education degree in many fields of education and research that require an advanced degree and knowledge of learning strategies.
