Bachelor of Science in Secondary Biology Education
Nova Southeastern University, primarily located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offers a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Biology Education
The program is designed to parallel the Florida state certification program for grades 6-12. The concentration of science education provides student teachers the needed understanding of modern teaching strategies in the modern middle to high school classroom. The science education focus also consists of courses addressing the broad range of science topics in the Florida Next Generation Science Curriculum Standards for middle school instruction (grades 5–9).
Students can gain the best practices and proper application through the innovative virtual classroom and a solid education that parallels Florida’s standards for teaching English as a second language (ESOL) to students. Graduates can use the science education degree in many fields of education and research that require an advanced degree and knowledge of learning strategies.
Graduates of the bachelor program can use the core teaching curriculum combined with the scientific emphasis to develop exceptional teaching goals, including teaching middle school science in Florida and participating in a comprehensive set of education courses. Successful students can use the advanced education as entry into the teaching field or as the foundation for additional educational pursuits of a masters or doctorate level degree.
